Offshore Energy reports that German specialty chemicals company Evonik has signed a list of terms with Dutch energy company VoltH2 to advance green hydrogen production at the Delftzell Chemical Park in the Netherlands.
Under the terms of the agreement, VoltH2 will build a 50 MW electrolyzer near Evonik’s hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) plant. Evonik will take part of its hydrogen requirements from the electrolyzer, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2027, the report said.
In the meantime, Evonik’s remaining hydrogen needs will continue to be met by its own conventional on-site hydrogen production. This solution is expected to ensure an uninterrupted supply until the green hydrogen capacity grows to fully meet demand, the company added.
VoltH2 will also build a long-tube trailer refueling station on Evonik’s site, and hydrogen from these trailers will be made available to other VoltH2 customers.
