The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) has announced the selection of 12 Low Carbon Hydrogen Center projects for industrial decarbonization in Brazil. The projects selected in the public call notice were proposed by CSN Group, EDP Renováveis Brasil, Neoenergia, Atlas Agro, Petrobrás, Prumo Logística, Copel GET, Solatio Holding Gestão de Projetos Solares, Eletrobras, Cemig Geração e Transmissão, EcoHydrogen Energy and Complexo Industrial Port Suape.
The proposals include the production of hydrogen from various sources, such as electricity connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN) grid, wind, solar, ethanol, biomass, etc. The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2012, and will be finalized by the end of 2013. Depending on the project, hydrogen production capacity ranges from 1,000 to 350,000 tons per year.
